Today is Yesterday is Tomorrow

MY Thanksgiving Post <<--link to my post yesterday

It’s 7 am Friday after Thanksgiving. I woke to call the family and it’s dark outside. It’s 4 o’clock there. The family ran the Turkey Trot this morning and now they gather at Mom’s house. Right now they bow for Thanksgiving prayers and sit to Granny’s dressing and jibblet gravy, the turkey, the cassaroles, the pies. Is today when they draw names? Or did they do that already? Are they even doing Secret Santa this year? (It never was much of a secret.) The Thanksgiving Day parade ushered in the Holidays and Santa came in waving at 35th street. The Cowboys play their yearly Thanksgiving Thursday football game. NFL broadcasts nation-wide from place and place under temperate – mild – snowy skies and fans cheer across TV trays with turkey dinners and glasses of wine. Everyone eats more than they’re stomachs are use to then the family roar lulls to sluggish chatter and most everyone fall into the traditional deep slumber. New grandfathers hold grandbabies, toddlers scatter the toy box across the floor, mixing theirs with those of their father. It’s 7 am Friday after Thanksgiving and the sun is not yet up, but my room turns blue as the sky slowly grows brighter and trucks and cars pass under my window. Yesterday went by with kimchi and rice, a soup made of fish organs that looked like blocks of inards and chicken feet. Amanda looked across the table at me, “Happy Thanksgiving.” We toasted our soju with a clink and shot them down.
