School - (by Oh Man-kyoung)
I have SO MANY English diaries to grade and it becomes quite tiresome. So many mistakes in so many of these diaries. However, I come across the occasional diary that has all the right mistakes to make me want to share with anyone who comes by this humble blog. Still quite a pain to correct but having some kind of quality that makes me appreciate having read it. This is by Oh Man-kyoung:

The Coconut Revolution
This is an incredible story of a small population of people fending off multi-national mining companies. They kept them from destroying their land by embracing its uses. Starting the revolution with bows and arrows and stones, they fought and beat the armies of Papua New Guinea and Australia.

This is Mohammed
Is a picture of Mohammed important? It's a matter of worshiping false idols. This is an image of Mohammed. Do you worship it?

Oops
Misspellings are fun sometimes. Today for my students' Words Test, the first word was Broadcast. The 'c' does seem rather important once it's forgotten, like it was on the first test handed to me.
"Broadast" - say it out loud - now, read this sentence - "Boy, that is one broadast woman!"
Just kinda funny :P

One Man's Trash
Welp, I'm one for the unexpected sidewalk surprise. I decided last night that I don't look up anymore because there's no reason to. The sky bleeds neon and I can't see stars. So I've come to looking down and, in so doing, I've started discovering buttons... everywhere! All sorts! Very exciting. Of course, this is not a button, but nonetheless, quite an unexpected sidewalk surprise!

Children's Day means Brian's Hungover
Well, Korea's favorite national holiday (that may not be true), Children's day, has arrived! And this means, no school, no work! We had a party at school on Monday to celebrate. Here's some pictures:
Harry the Nuisance
두나 (Tuna)
Robert the Horrible
Charles, the guy who just never really gets on the right page
Yes, that is FOUR TOOTSIE POPS in his mouth
These students answered wrong.. I call this the Happiest Little Jew Camp
Brother Hans, Sister Whitney
So, there's the pictures. Now, last night was quite a different party from this little hootin-nanny at the school. Details aside, suffice it to say, going grocery shopping drunk is worse than going grocery shopping hungry.
I walked to the store for milk to go over my cereal, jam for my toast, and spaghetti for pasta later. I left with onions, garlic, spinach, tomatoes, two kinds of peppers, two kinds of mushrooms, oranges, yogurt, pasta, milk, and jam, and then I wanted to go to the restaurant down the street for something different.
At any rate, it IS a holiday today! So, happy Children's day to you! Here's to children! We're all children, aren't we? Celebrate!
